About Me

I grew up in Makhanda, previously Grahamstown, in the Eastern Cape as a 90s kid where I attended school as well as university. At 22 I moved to Cape Town, one of the scariest driving and lifestyle adjustments of my life at the time, to continue my studies and start building my career. I'd always loved hearing people's stories and felt humbled whenever someone needed a shoulder to cry on or a sympathetic ear and chose me. Counselling is a passion and a purpose for me and being trusted with someone else's thoughts, experiences, and feelings is always an honour and a privilege.

My career began as a volunteer Life Line counsellor on the phones and since then I have volunteered at various other counselling centres, such as the Counselling Hub in Cape Town and Hope House as a student counsellor. I started counselling privately quite unexpectedly in 2020 during the national COVID lockdown and haven't looked back since. For the fluffier stuff, I love animals, nature, scary movies, and exploring as many creative outlets as I can, dabbling in painting, crochet, and bookbinding to name a few.

My approach to counselling is holistic - seeing you as a whole and not just certain parts or experiences - and grounded in compassion and curiosity. I take a client-centred and relational approach, allowing you to go at your own pace and in the directions that suit you. I like to integrate different techniques and modalities depending on what suits you and your needs best. I believe in meeting people where they are and supporting them in ways that match that. I like to think of counselling like being in a car together. You're the driver because it's your journey and you get to decide what pace and in which direction you want to go. I'm in the passenger seat offering support, insight, and perspective when needed, like helping you navigate a difficult stretch of road or slowing things down to reflect on where you need to go next. Sometimes it's also just important to know that there's someone else in the car with you as you figure things out.

Reaching out for support takes courage, especially if you're used to carrying things on your own. If you're feeling unsure or hesitant, that's okay. Counselling doesn't have to start with all the answers, just a willingness to take it one step at a time and some curiosity. I'm here to meet you where you are and figure it out with you.
